“Let Freedom Ring” Bell Ringing Ceremony and Wreath Laying for Revolutionary War Veteran on Independence Day at Mill Hill Historic Park

Celebrate Independence Day at Mill Hill Historic Park! The Norwalk Historical Society will host the “Let Freedom Ring” Bell Ringing Ceremony and a Wreath Laying Ceremony for Revolutionary War Veteran and American Legion “Veteran of the Month”, Samuel Grumman, on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 1:30pm at Mill Hill Historic Park, 2 East Wall St. Norwalk, CT. Follow signs to parking, only handicapped parking on site. This is a free event and open to the public. Guest speakers include Norwalk’s Mayor Harry Rilling and Senator Bob Duff. Light refreshments will follow.

At 1:30, join the Norwalk Historical Society for a wreath laying ceremony honoring Samuel Grumman, Revolutionary War Veteran, in the Mill Hill Historic Park Graveyard at his newly restored grave marker. Local historians, Madeleine and Ed Eckert, will speak about Grumman’s contributions to Norwalk before, during and after the American Revolution. Samuel Grumman will also be honored as Veteran of the Month of July at the American Legion Post 12 in Norwalk, CT on Sunday, July 2, 2017.

Following the wreath laying, join the nation as we toll the Town House bell 13 times to commemorate the founding of the original 13 colonies. Selected sections of the Declaration of Independence will be read by Norwalk’s Town Clerk, Rick McQuaid. Mayor Harry Rilling and Senator Bob Duff will take part in this wonderful patriotic ceremony!
