Letter To The Editor: Bob Duff Puts Children & Our Health First

"I am proud to say that I have already voted for Bob Duff for State Senate."

Letter to the editor from Melissa Goosman:

Oct. 27, 2020

I was appalled to read on the front page of The Norwalk Hour about the “Connecticut Freedom Alliance” lawsuit over the mask requirement for school children. For those who don’t know this is a group that is backing Republican Ellie Kousides in her run for State Senate. To me, this is insane. This group sites the fact that children rarely show symptoms of the coronavirus – and they are right in that respect, but what is left out is the fact that the children can pass the disease onto family members, teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, I can go on. This attitude is reckless, dangerous and selfish!

As a society we have made the decision to require licenses and insurance for people to drive cars, we have established a minimum age for drinking and established a maximum level of alcohol in the blood for driving a car. These are all policies implemented to protect other members of our Connecticut family. With the rise of coronavirus cases around the country and in Connecticut we must be vigilant. We know masks work in preventing the spread of the disease.

I cannot support someone who does not believe in science and is willing to put our whole society at risk for a disease that can do the damage that the coronavirus can do. I am proud to say that I have already voted for Bob Duff for State Senate. He believes in putting our children and our health first.
