Lightning Strike Sparks Norwalk House Fire: FD
Fire Department officials said a firefighter was injured when part of the ceiling fell.
NORWALK, CT — A firefighter was injured Thursday afternoon as crews worked to put out a house fire that was started by a lightning strike, fire officials said.
Deputy Chief Stephen Shay said in an email that firefighters responded to the Thistle Road home at 4:51 p.m. The fire started in the attic of the home and then caught the kitchen below, Shay said.
According to Shay, there was heavy fire damage to the first floor and attic and smoke damage to the rest of the home. All occupants managed to get out safely along with two cats, Shay said.

Shay said one firefighter suffered a minor laceration to the face and a minor back injury when part of the ceiling fell. The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.
