Local Mystery Author Barbara Pearson-Rac to Speak at Norwalk Public Library AuthorSpeak Series
Westport author Barbara Pearson-Rac will speak about her book, On Track: a Diana Jeffries Mystery.
Norwalk, CT, December 15, 2015 - For its first AuthorSpeak program of 2016, the Norwalk Public Library is pleased to present Westport author Barbara Pearson-Rac, who will speak about her book, On Track: a Diana Jeffries Mystery, on Friday, January 22nd at 12:00 noon in the Full Auditorium. A light lunch will be provided courtesy of the library.
Pearson-Rac will discuss writing her first novel, which she describes as a “fun little caper,” about 4 women who stumble on a sinister plot while commuting by train to their jobs in New York City. The title character, Diana Jeffries, a criminology professor, along with her three women friends are described as “young seniors,” similar to Pearson-Rac, who also was a former adjunct criminology professor at the University of Massachusetts and young senior who commuted with three women passengers to Boston in 2001.
Inspired by her three commuting mates to tell their story, Pearson-Rac taught herself how to write a novel, which she calls, “an incredible experience in learning about the imagination and how the brain takes us to places quite unexpected.” In time, she hired an editor to fine-tune her manuscript, and commissioned Westport graphic artist Miggs Burroughs to design the book cover for On Track.

Barbara Pearson-Rac considers herself a true baby boomer and product of the 60’s. In addition to teaching criminology, she has coordinated a national cancer research project and worked as a corporate IT executive.
She delves into each new challenge with an adventurous spirit and has gained expertise by learning on-the-job. Writing a novel was just one more venture into the unknown for her.
