Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum To Host Spring Tea Event In Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk will host a "Spring Tea at the Mansion" event on May 3 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

According to a news release provided by the museum, the event will be chaired by LMMM Trustee Lynne Byington and feature a talk titled "Gardens of the Gilded Age" by Jana Milbocker.

Luxurious tea refreshments, a hat contest, a silent auction and a special drawing will complement this exciting afternoon, according to the release.

Tickets are limited, and reservations are required, according to the mansion museum.

"The Tea Committee is thrilled to open the mansion's doors for another memorable afternoon," Byington said in a news release. "Guests will enjoy a lavish tea, shop for gifts donated by local businesses, and revel in the Gilded Age, while learning about its magnificent gardens from author Jana Milbocker."

According to the release, in this richly illustrated talk, Milbocker "explores the breathtaking estates and legendary landscapes created for families such as the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers and du Ponts—alongside the visionary architects and designers who brought their grandeur to life. Discover the stories behind these magnificent gardens and the people who shaped them."

According to the release, Milbocker is an author, speaker and garden designer. She loves to visit gardens and historic
sites in the United States and abroad and share her trips through guided garden tours, photos, and prose.

In addition to "Gardens of the Gilded Age," she is the author of four garden travel guides which profile 310 gardens on the East Coast. Milbocker lives in the Boston area and worked as an art director and marketing specialist for 30 years before launching her garden design business in 2010, according to the release.

The event is sponsored by Fairfield County Bank and Bigelow Tea. All proceeds will benefit the museum's cultural and educational programs, according to the release.

Tickets for the spring tea event are $65 for members and $75 for non-members, and hats are welcomed.
