Thornton Wilder’s 1938 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Our Town, is a timeless exploration of the human experience. Set in the fictionalized small town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, between 1901 and 1913, it follows the daily routines, loves, and tragedies of the Gibbs and Webb families. The play is famously performed with limited stage scenery and almost no props, using pantomime to encourage audiences to focus on the universal themes rather than design. We've selected Our Town for this season to highlight the 250th celebration by focusing on small town America, and specifically "Our Town" of New Canaan.

The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. In conversation with Spencer Bailey, Diller will trace the arc of her practice—from civic landmarks that reshaped New York, including the High Line and The Shed, to the more recent V&amp;A East Storehouse in London, the MIT Metropolitan Warehouse in Cambridge, MA, and Al-Mujadilah Center &amp; Mosque for Women in Doha. Simone Morris Enterprises to Honor Six Leaders and Teams at Its Signature Awards Celebration in Norwalk, CT
Join us on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, for an evening of recognition, connection, and community at HMTX in Norwalk — celebrating the leaders and teams who make room for everyone.
Now in its fourth year, the Inclusive Leadership Impact Awards (ILIA) brings together leaders, changemakers, and community members to honor the people building workplaces and communities where everyone belongs. The evening features the awards presentation alongside food, beverages, live music, and networking with a room full of leaders committed to inclusive impact.
This year's celebration recognizes six honorees across six categories:
<ul><li>Senator Bob Duff — Luminary Award</li><li>Natasha Agarwal — Visionary Voice Award</li><li>Breion Moses — Inclusive Leadership Business Impact Award</li><li>Dr. Isaac M. Adusu — Community Leader of the Year</li><li>KCSNY Home Delivered Meals Team — Community Team Award</li><li>Aditi Gaddam — Next Generation Inclusive Leader Award</li></ul>
Ten percent of ticket proceeds will support Women's Mentoring Network, a Connecticut nonprofit that empowers women through long-term mentoring, skills workshops, and educational support — continuing an ILIA tradition of giving back to a local community partner each year.
"Inclusive leadership isn't a slogan — it's the daily practice of making room for people, and this year's honorees live it,"said Simone Morris, Founder and CEO of Simone Morris Enterprises and creator of the ILIA Awards. "ILIA exists to recognize the leaders and teams doing that consistent, often quiet work, and to remind our community that when everyone belongs, everyone benefits."
