Major Fitness Center Chain To Permanently Close Norwalk Location This Year
A sign posted at the chain's only Norwalk location says the gym will permanently close soon but members will have access to other locations.
NORWALK, CT — Popular fitness center chain LA Fitness has announced the planned closure of its only Norwalk location later this year.
According to a sign posted to the door of the fitness center Monday, the Norwalk location at 761 Main Avenue will be permanently closing April 7 at 2 p.m.
The sign also noted customers whose membership lists the Norwalk gym as their home club will have their access expanded that day to include all LA Fitness locations nationwide, including signature clubs.

Memberships can also be canceled in person, online or by mail, according to the sign.
"We hope we can continue to assist you in pursuing your fitness goals," the sign reads.

In addition to Norwalk, LA Fitness operates Connecticut locations in Stamford, Trumbull, Stratford, Milford and Farmington, as we as in neighboring states such as New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
A request for comment from LA Fitness was not immediately returned Monday.
The closure will mark the second business in the area to permanently close its doors in recent months.
In December, Dorello Carpets & Area Rugs announced the family-run carpet store was closing at 594 Main Avenue after more than four decades in business.
Nearby, popular fast-casual restaurant chain Just Salad announced the opening of its first Norwalk location at 644 Main Avenue was scheduled for early this year.
