Making Spirits Bright for Youngest Patients
Norwalk Community Health Center partners with Toys for Tots, Westport Police, MBI and BackCountry Jazz
Norwalk Community Health Center, Inc. ‘s (NCHC) adult medicine waiting room and women’s health waiting area were transformed into Santa’s workshops for the Annual NCHC Children’s Holiday Party attended by more than 400 NCHC pediatric patients and their families. A nationally recognized federally qualified health center, the non-profit health center provides comprehensive health care (adult, pediatric, women’s, behavioral, and adult and pediatric dental health) to 13,000 unique patients each year, regardless of ability to pay.
NCHC is deeply grateful for a
community of caring organizations, individuals and volunteers, Toys for Tots, the Westport Police Department and
friends of NCHC, Santa and Mrs. Claus had toys for every child from newborn
to age 12. First-time elves from Norwalk-based MBI Inc. worked overtime to keep Santa’s workshop buzzing with
festive craft projects and made sure families’ spirits were merry and bright.
Back for an encore performance in 2018 were the BackCounty Jazz Beboppers. The talented mentored teen musicians from Bridgeport to Greenwich played holiday favorites. BackCountry Jazz presents outstanding concerts with major jazz artists and rising stars and educates and inspires youth. Through concerts, music education programs and the summer music camp, BackCountry Jazz, a Greenwich based non-profit, celebrates, preserves and expands the rich tradition of America's art form.
