NORWALK, CT — A man accused of firing a gun inside a Norwalk apartment while a 1-year-old was present in a separate bedroom was arrested Thursday afternoon, according to the Norwalk Police Department.
In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said the department received a report around 1 p.m. of shots fired inside an East Wall Street apartment.
When officers spoke with the person who reported the incident, they said Christopher Bromfield, 30, of Norwalk, had discharged a firearm inside the apartment during the overnight hours, Podgorski said.

According to Podgorski, an investigation revealed Bromfield fired the weapon while the person who reported the incident and a one-year-old child were present inside the apartment in a separate bedroom.
Officers located Bromfield as he was exiting the parking lot in his vehicle and found a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his possession, as well as 37 rounds of ammunition inside his vehicle, according to Podgorski.

Police then applied for and were granted a search and seizure warrant for the apartment, where detectives found and seized four magazines fully loaded with .223 caliber blank ammunition, a rifle, a pellet rifle and six boxes and an ammunition container containing various ammunition, Podgorski said.
Bromfield was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, risk of injury to a child, first-degree reckless endangerment, violation of protective order, carrying a pistol without a permit and four counts of illegal possession of a large capacity magazine.
His bond was set at $500,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Podgorski.
