Man Accused Of Illegal Re-Entry After Deportation: U.S. Attorney
Court officials said the accused was last know to reside in Norwalk.

NORWALK, CT — A man last know to reside in Norwalk has been charged with illegally returning to the United States after being deported, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut John H. Durham.
According to a news release, Miguel Angel Arcos-Vasquez, 26, was charged with one count of illegally reentering the U.S. after being deported following a June 14 grand jury indictment. The accused entered a plea of not guilty to the charge on Thursday.
Court documents allege the accused illegally entered the U.S. in or before 2014.

According to Durham, the accused was was arrested in March 2014 by the Stratford Police Department for a burglary offense and was also charged in April 2014 with failure to appear. He was not encountered by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at this time, Durham said.
Durham said the accused allegedly attempted to enter the U.S. three times through Texas in January 2016, but was removed to Mexico after each attempt. The accused was then allegedly arrested on Jan. 24, 2017, by Stamford police on charges of threatening, Durham said.

On Jan. 27, 2017, the accused was charged by Norwalk police with sale of a hallucinogen/narcotic and criminal possession of a firearm under the name of Dimas Herrarte-Ramirez, Durham said. He has been detained since that time and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified.
In October 2017, the state charges against the accused were resolved and he is currently serving a sentence of five years of imprisonment, Durham said. He faces a maximum term of two years in prison if convicted of the illegal reentry charge.
Durham said immigration authorities are in the process of determining if the accused is a citizen of Mexico or Guatemala.
