Stamford Man Charged With Biting Officer: Norwalk Police
Norwalk police said a Stamford man has been charged with biting an officer when police tried to restrain him.

NORWALK, CT - Norwalk police said a Stamford man has been charged with biting an officer when police tried to restrain him, the Norwalk hour reported. Police said the incident occurred early Wednesday morning at a New Canaan Avenue residence.
Police said a friend of Daniel Velme, 20, reported the suspect was in an "altered mental state"and appeared to be under the influence of drugs, according to the Norwalk Hour. He began acting violently and screaming when officers arrived, police said.
Police said the suspect bit one of the officers when they tried to restrain him, and both he and the bitten officer were taken to a hospital for evaluation, the Norwalk Hour reported. Velme was subsequently charged with assaulting an officer, police said.
