Man Charged In Norwalk Home Invasion: PD

Police said the accused entered a Norwalk home and pointed a gun at a resident.

NORWALK, CT — Police said a Stamford man has been charged in a Norwalk home invasion that occurred Friday. According to a press release, police said they received a call at approximately 8:30 a.m. from a Norwalk resident stating a man had entered their home and pointed a gun at the caller.

Police said officers responded to the scene and discovered that Alvin Collins, 46, of Stamford had fled in a vehicle after allegedly attempting to shoot one of the occupants of the home.

"According to the victims, Collins pointed a gun at one occupant and pulled the trigger, however the gun did not fire," Sergeant Sofia Gulino said in a release. "Collins then pistol whipped the second victim, and began assaulting the second victim on the floor while the first victim ran to the bathroom to call 911."

Police said one of the occupants was transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The accused was known to the occupants, police said.

According to police, the Norwalk Detectives quickly obtained an arrest warrant and the accused turned himself in to the Stamford Police Department on Monday. He was transported to the Norwalk Police Department without incident and charged with home invasion and first-degree assault, police said.
