Man Charged In Stop And Shop Robbery: Norwalk PD
Police said a Stamford man is accused of robbing a Norwalk grocery store.

NORWALK, CT — Police said a man accused of robbing a Norwalk grocery store was arrested Thursday night. According to a news release, police said Shawn Oliphant, 36, of Stamford was charged with first-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and violation protective order.
At approximately 8:41 p.m., police responded to the Stop and Shop on Connecticut Avenue after receiving a report of a robbery. The caller said a male suspect stated he was in possession of a firearm and demanded money.
Police said the clerk refused and the suspect fled the store with a stolen pack of cigarettes. Arriving officers scoured the area but were unable to locate the suspect, however a witness was able to identify the suspect as Oliphant, police said.

"Norwalk Detectives assumed the investigation and quickly confirmed Oliphant was in fact the suspect,"Lieutenant Terrence Blake said in a release.
Detectives subsequently located the accused in Stamford with assistance from the Stamford Police Department, police said. The accused was taken into custody without incident, police said.
