Norwalk police said a man was arrested after leading police on a brief vehicle and foot pursuit in an allegedly stolen vehicle.

NORWALK, CT — Police said a Bridgeport man was arrested early Tuesday morning on charges of stealing a vehicle in Middletown and evading an accident in Norwalk. The arrest came after a brief vehicle and foot pursuit, police said.

Police said an officer noticed a vehicle with significant front-end damage travelling along Water Street just after an evading accident incident had been reported in South Norwalk. The officer subsequently attempted to stop the vehicle on the Stroffolino Bridge, but the suspect refused to pull over, according to a release.

Police said the vehicle accelerated away before pulling to a stop in a driveway on Fort Point Street. The suspect then ran from the vehicle, leading to a short foot pursuit, police said.
