Man Threatens To Shoot Norwalk DMV Workers, Gets Arrested: Cops

The North Canaan, CT suspect made the statements Thursday morning, according to state police.

NORWALK, CT — A 55-year-old North Canaan, CT man was arrested on charges of threatening and breach of peace after state police said he uttered "Today seems like a good day to shoot to kill" toward employees at the Norwalk DMV on Route 7.

State police were contacted by an employee about the comments made at the facility Thursday morning. In addition to the above statement, the customer, later identified as Gregory Plaia, also said that "he would come back another time."

Plaia was taken into custody following an investigation and was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

In a statement, Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Bongi Magubane praised the employees at the Norwalk facility for quick action.

"I am so proud of the DMV team at the Norwalk branch for immediately reporting the threatening comments made by a customer this morning," Magubane said. "The safety of our employees and customers is a top priority for the DMV and their quick actions are to be commended."

Plaia was released after posting a bond on bail of $10,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 13.

Added state police officials, "The Connecticut State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to be vigilant and prepared to report anything that could become a safety issue. If you see (or hear) something, say something."
