Man Transporting Kilogram Of Meth To Norwalk Sentenced
He had been deported from the country twice before.
NORWALK, CT — A man who illegally re-entered the U.S. was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after he was found driving back to Norwalk with a kilogram of methamphetamine in his vehicle.
Rafael Lopez-Macias, 46 and others conspired to traffic large amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office. Lopez-Macias has a previous conviction in California for cocaine trafficking and was deported to Mexico in 2001. He was deported again in 2009 from Connecticut after being convicted of forgery.
Investigators heard him on a court-authorized wiretap discussing drug trafficking. He and others sold a kilogram of cocaine and some methamphetamine for $31,500 to someone working with law enforcement in June 2018.

Lopez-Macias traveled from Norwalk to New Rochelle to pick up a kilogram of methamphetamine. He was stopped by law enforcement on the way back. He pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, and one count of reentry of removed alien.
