Maritime Aquarium To Host Strive For The Gold Weekend

Be a medal winner during "Strive for the Gold Weekend" at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.

NORWALK, CT – Amid the world competition occurring in Pyeongchang, South Korea, there are also medals to be won Feb. 17-19 during “Strive for the Gold Weekend” at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.

The Aquarium’s special offering for the three-day President’s Day Weekend, “Strive for the Gold,” invites guests, especially children, to take part in bonus activities, some of which test their athleticism in comparison to those of aquatic animals, according to a release.

Can you hop farther than a frog? Can you leap as high as a seal?

Plus, grab a stick for the chance to shoot a puck past an “octopus” goalie. Complete all the challenges and earn a “Strive for the Gold” medal.

Be sure to bring your camera for a fun “photo opp” at the medals-ceremony podium.

“While they’re all in good fun, the activities also are meant to get guests thinking about the special adaptations that aquatic animals have that help them to survive,” Aquarium Associate Director of Communications Dave Sigworth said in a release.
