NORWALK, CT — The Maritime Aquarium is currently seeking volunteers who enjoy interacting with both people and animals to share the story of Long Island Sound's ecosystem as gallery ambassadors.

According to a news release provided by the aquarium, applications for the spring cohort are open now through March 3.

"Volunteering at the Maritime Aquarium is a fun and rewarding experience," Volunteer Coordinator Jessica Boyle said in a news release. "Not only will gallery ambassadors share their passion for the environment with people of all ages and make new friends with similar interests, they will also make a difference in our community."

Gallery ambassadors will raise awareness about the aquarium's conservation efforts, facilitate interactions between guests and animals at touch tanks and ensure visits to the aquarium are enjoyable experiences.

In recognition of their service, they will receive benefits including membership for two people, free parking, professional learning opportunities, and discounts at the aquarium's gift shop, café and 4D Theater, according to the aquarium.
