In recognition of World Autism Day, the Norwalk aquarium will open all of its galleries and exhibits with dimmed lights and lowered sounds.

NORWALK, CT — In recognition of World Autism Day, the Maritime Aquarium will hold a sensory-friendly morning to accommodate guests with sensory-processing differences April 2.
According to a news release, the aquarium will open all of its galleries and exhibits at 8 a.m. with dimmed lights and lowered sounds.
"Providing enjoyable experiences to our guests is one of our top priorities," Vice President of Education Tom Naiman said in a news release. "Our sensory-friendly mornings allow those with sensory-processing differences to comfortably explore the aquarium in a fun and accepting environment."

Admission is discounted for this special event. Adult tickets can be purchased for $19 and child tickets can be purchased for $14. If guests with special needs must leave within 30 minutes of their visit, the aquarium will provide a ticket to return another day, according to the aquarium.
