Maritime Aquarium Raises Over $200,000 At Annual Golf Classic

The event was held at Wee Burn Country Club to support the Norwalk aquarium's animals, conservation efforts and educational programming.

NORWALK, CT — The Maritime Aquarium announced this week it raised over $200,000 at its 12th annual Golf Classic last month.

According to a news release provided by the Norwalk aquarium, the event was held May 22 at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien to support its resident animals, conservation efforts and educational programming.

"Our work at the aquarium would not be possible without our generous supporters," Vice President of Philanthropy and Engagement Danielle Tranzillo said in a news release. "Thank you to all our golfers, sponsors and Wee Burn Country Club for making this day a success."

The event started with lunch and a call to the carts by The RoyalPiper Al Gonzales. Following the day of golf, a dinner was held overlooking the course with animal encounters and live music from members of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra, as well as whiskey tasting and cigar rolling stations from Pernod Ricard.

The tournament was attended by 93 players. Fairfield County Bank’s Dave Schneider, Nate Erdtmann, Eric Erdtmann and Howard Friedman boasted the lowest gross score in the tournament.

Taking first for net score was Team Bushwood’s Ed Stearns, Bill Thrush, Griffin Thrush and David Durkin.

The tournament's presenting sponsor was M&T Bank | Wilmington Trust. Fairfield County Bank, Clay Fowler and Spinnaker Real Estate Partners, LLC and Earl Mix and New Canaan Funding were tournament sponsors.
