Mary Edith Ponte Smith (Mickey) age 83, a long time resident of Norwalk passed away Tuesday the 8th of January 2019 at her home in Cleburne, TX surrounded by her family. Mary was born May 10th 1934 in New Bedford, MA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, a long time employee of Perkin & Elmer in Norwalk, CT until her retirement in 1994.She would go out of her way to make sure her family & close friends were always taken care of, she loved to go to tag sales, she loved her search a word books, the biggest fan of the TV channel Investigation ID. She was also an animal lover who gave to many charities. She is survived by her sisters, Irene Garnett of Nantucket, her sister Joney & husband Walter Souza, daughter Genie Guiffra of Lawrence, MA, her daughter Jamie Harrick of Bridgeport, CT, her son James E Smith Jr. & wife Gail Smith of Cleburne, TX, She was a grandmother to 11, Monte, Sam, Katie, Jason, Samantha, Jessica, Tonya, Jeffrey, Amanda, James & Justin who gave her the honor of becoming a great-grandmother to 27 grandkids. She was proceeded in death by her husband James E. Smith Sr. of Norwalk CT, her brother Joseph Ponte of New Bedford, MA, her brother Charles Ponte of New Bedford, MA, her brother Daniel Ponte of New Bedford, MA, her sister Betty Ponte of New Bedford, MA, her daughter Susan L. Smith of Lawrence, MA, her father Joseph Ponte Jr of New Bedford, MA, her mother Mary E Ponte of Everett, MA Friends may greet the family on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
