McMahon Baseball Knocks Norwalk Out of State Tournament [Video]
Alex Petridis tossed a four-hitter Wednesday as the Senators blanked town rival Norwalk 1-0 in the second round of the CIAC Class LL state tournament.
McMahon already had lost twice to Norwalk, once in the regular season and last week in the FCIAC playoffs, but Wednesday's win sends the third-seeded Senators (18-5) into the state quarterfinals on Saturday against New Britain, a 8-1 winner over Conard.
The game will be played at a site and time to be determined. McMahon scored the game's only one run in the fourth. Ronnie Sherman led off with a single, stole second and scoredon Brendan Davis two-out RBI single.
The Senators missed opportunities to extend their lead, stranding three in the fourth and fifth, when they loaded the bases with no outs. Petridis, who only struck out one, yielded four singles and walked two.

Norwalk, the No. 14 seed, had a chance to break on top in the third, but losing pitcher Spencer Jacoby was thrownout at the plate by left fielder Sherman trying to score on Matt Ederle's two-out single.
Jacoby battled some control problems, walking five and allowing six hits, but kept his team in the game with some gutty pitching as he worked out of the jams in the fourth and fifth. Jacoby struck out six.

Norwalk, which advanced to the semifinals of the FCIAC playoffs, finished the year at 15-9.
