MetroNorth Train Becomes Entangled In Overhead Wires In Norwalk: FD
Fire officials said passengers were removed from a MetroNorth train after it became entangled in overhead wires in Norwalk.
NORWALK, CT — Passengers were removed from a MetroNorth train after it became entangled in overhead wires late Monday afternoon in Norwalk, according to fire officials.
In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Maggio said crews were called to an eastbound train carrying passengers near Moore Place around 4:45 p.m. after it became entangled in overhead wires that supply power to the train.
According to Maggio, the circuit breaker for the track detected the fault and de-energized automatically.

Crews also extinguished a small brush fire near the stopped train after some of the overhead equipment that was sheered off came to rest in a brushy area off to the side of the tracks, Maggio said.
Fire and Metropolitan Transportation Authority emergency officials determined an adjacent track could be re-opened after moving some of the damaged equipment, according to Maggio.
