Mid-Day Music

The Vitali ensemble, comprised of cellist Charlie Rasmussen and guitarist Meredith Connie, is dedicated to performing rarely heard Italian 17th-century compositions for solo basso, violone, violoncello, guitar, and lute.

Baroque cellist Charlie Rasmussen has played concerts across the United States and in Europe. He has performed as a part of the New York Continuo Collective, American Bach Soloists, and Greensboro Early Music. He holds a Masters in Cello Performance from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and has attended Phoebe Carrai's Baroque Cello Bootcamp, American Bach Soloists Academy, and the Magnolia Baroque Institute where he studied with Brent Wissick. Currently, Mr. Rasmussen teaches cello and musicianship and coaches chamber music at the Talent Education Suzuki School in Norwalk Connecticut. He is also the cellist in the Spiritoso Quartet and subs in the Norwalk Symphony.

Meredith Connie trained as a guitarist at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Australia) and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She began studying period instruments while at the San Francisco Conservatory in 2001, and has since studied lute and baroque guitar with Robert Strizich, Stephen Stubbs and Elizabeth C. D. Brown. As a guitarist Meredith has concertized across the United States and in her native Australia, performing as a soloist with the Octava Chamber Orchestra, Pierce College Orchestra and the Seattle Guitar Orchestra. She works in a number of chamber ensembles and has released two recordings, Sol Y Sombras for solo guitar and guitar and cello, and Imaginary Landscapes for flute and guitar in Duo Rubicund. Meredith Connie is currently head of guitar at TESS music school in Norwalk.
