Mosque for Fillow St. up for Norwalk Zoning Vote Thursday
The Norwalk Zoning Commission is scheduled to vote Thursday on whether to approve a proposed mosque on Fillow Street.

The long legal battle over whether Norwalk officials should block or approve plans for a mosque on Fillow Street may come to a close on Thursday, when the Norwalk Zoning Commission votes on whether to approve a settlement, according to The Hour.
The settlement would include a detailed plan for a 21,800 mosque and community center proposed by the Al Madany Islamic Center on 1.5 acres at 127 Fillow St.
Al Madany had sued the city, charging religious discrimination, after city officials had rejected the original proposal for a mosque on the site. Many neighbors have been opposed.

The settlement proposal cut the size of the building by 26 percent from the original proposal and increased on-site parking from 89 to 135 spaces, according to The Hour.
A public hearing before the vote is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in Norwalk Concert Hall at City Hall, 125 East Ave.
