Museum of Darien Announces Exciting Lineup of Events and Exhibitions to Commemorate America250
Engaging series of events and programs bring the Revolutionary War era to life for history enthusiasts of all ages.

Darien, CT – The Museum of Darien is thrilled to unveil an engaging series of events and programs that bring the Revolutionary War era to life for history enthusiasts of all ages. Kicking off this spring, the museum invites the community to step back in time and explore the rich history of Middlesex Parish (now Darien) through interactive exhibitions, reenactments, and celebrations steeped in colonial heritage.
War Comes to Middlesex: A Revolutionary Exhibition
Opening April 28, 2026 – July 2027
This groundbreaking exhibition offers a fresh perspective on how the Revolutionary War shaped our community. With carefully curated artifacts and stories, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of Middlesex Parish’s role in the fight for independence.
Museum Hours: Tuesday–Thursday, 11am-4pm. Admission: $10 per adult, children free

Celebrate 250 years of Middlesex Parish history with a day of immersive colonial life demonstrations. From 10am-1pm at the Museum of Darien: members of the Fifth Connecticut Regiment, dressed in authentic period attire, will showcase daily life and artisan skills from the 18th century. A silhouette artist will be on-site creating timeless portraits; advance bookings available for $35 per silhouette. Head to Mather Homestead from 2-4 p.m. for a historic battle reenactment, The British are Coming! And all day, view 250 markers at Highland Farm that tell the stories of Darien’s history and more.

A Night at the Museum: Annual Spring Fundraiser – Rebels and Redcoats

Step into the intrigue of the Revolutionary War at this year’s spirited fundraiser, are you a Rebel or Redcoat? The museum transforms into a lively colonial tavern brimming with music, games, and the energy of a community caught in the throes of war. Proceeds from this event will support the museum’s ongoing programs and preservation efforts.

Bring your friends and family for a day of discovery during Connecticut Museum Open House Day. Tour the War Comes to Middlesex exhibition, explore the 1736 Colonial Saltbox house with expert guides, and indulge in a taste of history with traditional colonial hot chocolate served by The Pewter Pot Chocolatier. Children will also enjoy a seed planting project with members of the Darien Library and Darien Garden club, taking home a sample of historic, heirloom herbs found in the museum’s memorial garden.
