New Assistant Fire Chief Appointed For Norwalk

A veteran city firefighter has been appointed as Norwalk's new Assistant Fire Chief.

NORWALK, CT — A veteran city firefighter has been appointed as Norwalk's new Assistant Fire Chief, the Norwalk Hour reported. Fire officials said Chris King is scheduled to take over the position Tuesday.

According to the Hour, King was offered and accepted the position Monday afternoon by Mayor Harry Rilling and Fire Commissioner Oscar Destruge. The position was left vacant following the appointment of Gino Gattoas acting Fire Chief in May 2017, and then department Chief in February.

King has been with the department since 1987, where he advanced to Deputy Fire Chief in April 2011, according to the Hour. The department consists of nearly 150 members.
