New Canaan Students Clean River in Norwalk

A group of students mostly from New Canaan High School helped clean-up the river across from the Maritime Aquarium’s property.

The event was organized by junior Paul Gelhaus and many New Canaan rowers participated.

Gelhaus said in a note to the aquarium that he had been rowing on the Norwalk River for years and that he and other rowers felt a responsibility to maintain it.

The Norwalk River is a tidal river and is constantly replenished with new litter, making it difficult to maintain with the aquarium’s limited resources.
