New Medical Schools Approved for Norwalk, Danbury Hospitals: Report

The hospitals are teaming up with the University of Vermont College of Medicine.

NORWALK, CT — New medical schools were recently approved by the state for Norwalk and Danbury hospitals, despite objections from UConn and Quinnipiac med schools, reports The News Times.

The Western Connecticut Health Network, which owns Norwalk Hospital and Danbury Hospital, will team up with the University of Vermont College of Medicine to operate the schools.

Quinnipiac and UConn medical schools argued that the two new schools would take opportunities away from other med students. Under the new program, UVM med students will spend portions of their training at Danbury or Norwalk hospitals.
