New Mexican Restaurant Opens in Norwalk
The new eatery, owned by local restaurateur Luis Solis, who also owns Norwalk Pizza & Pasta, offers an unusual menu, with variations on traditional Mexican classics.

As Norwalk Patch readers , via our latest Reader's Choice poll, a new Mexican restaurant, Don Carmelo's Mexican Grill and Tequila Bar, has opened at 7 Winfield Street, in East Norwalk.
According to a report in The Hour of Norwalk, it took years for local restaurateur Luis Solis, who also owns , to find a suitable location for the restaurant, as well as to renovate the old building, the former Sandbar, which closed in 2008 after 50 years in business.
Solis considered locations on Connecticut Avenue and the Wall Street area before leasing space in the building, according to the report. He claims to have removed more than 18 containers of debris from the old building during the remodeling process.
According to a recent review in CTBites, the restaurant offers an unusual menu, with variations on traditional Mexican classics. The entree selection "is large and encompasses everything from entrée salads, traditional Mexican specialties like burritos, enchiladas and chimichangas and a wide array of seafood, chicken, beef and pork selections, all served with the traditional carb heavy sides of refried beans, rice and choice of corn or flour tortillas," CTBites restaurant reviewer Kimberly Vigier wrote.
