New Playground Completed At Veteran's Memorial Park In Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — A brand new playground was recently completed at Veteran's Memorial Park in Norwalk, according to city officials.

In a Facebook post, city officials said the playground was built as a result of a parks beautification grant secured by Sen. Majority Leader Bob Duff.

The new facility replaces the park's previous playground, which officials noted was nearly 20 years old.

The new playground also fits in with elements of Veteran's Memorial Park and Norwalk's maritime history.

According to the city, the playground's design is inspired by a replica of the historic Discovery Amistad ship, which visited Norwalk this past summer.

"The Amistad's 129-foot Amistad Schooner is a replica of the historical La Amistad ship, which serves as a floating classroom to educate the public about the history of slavery, discrimination and the Amistad Uprising, which took place in 1839," the post reads.
