The Norwalk High School Marching Band capped an undefeated season Saturday night with a victory at the US Bands National Championships at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford NJ. The band, performing in Class VI Open scored a 97.775 out of a possible 100, winning it's second National Championship in four years
Norwalk competed against bands from across the country to capture it's latest title, winning additional awards for Best Music and Best Overall Effect. The performance ends a season in which the Norwalk High School Marching Band did not lose a competition. "We are very proud of these students" said Chris Rivera, Norwalk High Band Director, "They have been working hard on this show since August, putting in countless hours rehearsing and perfecting their performance. To see it end up with a Championship is truly fantastic".
The Norwalk High School Marching Band is made up of over 175 student musicians and color guard members. The program has a long tradition of winning and has performed in countless prestigious events including multiple parades at Walt Disney World and other locations.

In addition to showcasing the arts, the Band boasts some of the most academically successful students at Norwalk High School. "Over 90% of these students maintain a 3.0 GPA or better", stated Mr. Rivera. "This program, music and the arts, are truly helping to better prepare these students for what lies ahead".
What lies ahead for the Band is a weekend off, then they are right back at is as they prepare for the indoor Winter Percussion and Color Guard seasons.
