Nielsen Employees Perform Service Project to Benefit Adults With Disabilities from STAR

Employees of Nielsen corporation undertook a transformational outdoor service project to improve and restore a STAR, Inc. group home

Eight employees from the Wilton office of Nielsen corporation recently performed a service project to benefit STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way group home in Weston. STAR is a nonprofit organization that has provided services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Mid-Fairfield County since 1952.

The project, chosen by members of the firm, was selected for a community service event and included stripping, sanding and painting the tremendously large deck, as well as all the railings and stairs to the home. The volunteers chose this project because of the opportunity to improve the daily atmosphere for the residents and restore the outdoor environment of the group home, providing opportunities for residents of the home to utilize and enjoy their outdoor space.

Katie Banzhaf, Executive Director of STAR said, “We are grateful for the support and hard work of our friends from Nielsen. To witness the power of the volunteer spirit and see the impactful results is heartwarming. STAR is truly thankful for their efforts.”
