NORWALK, CT — The city's Recreation and Parks Department has activated a new reservation system for reserving Norwalk's outdoor pickleball and tennis courts, effective Monday.
According to a news release provided by the city, while reservations can be made to guarantee court rentals, it is important to note that reservations are not required to utilize the city’s courts. Players are welcome to enjoy pickleball or tennis without reservations if the courts have not yet been reserved.

With the increase in demand for outdoor pickleball and tennis courts, the department set up a new system to ensure accessibility and fairness when it comes to usage, city officials said.
The new reservation system will streamline the process for securing court time, helping to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants, while increasing transparency and awareness of when courts are available, according to the city.

Starting Monday, court reservation fees will be $15 per hour for residents and $25 per hour for non-residents, with a maximum of two court reservations per transaction.
Users will receive a permit via email stating their reserved date, time and court location. The community will be able to see if the courts are reserved or available for play through their Active Net account, city officials said.
To make a reservation at one of the city’s facilities, participants can sign into their Active Net account at http://scb.ai/Nvtpyt or create an account if they don’t already have one. Once they are logged in, users should select the “Reservations” tab on the top left-hand side of their screen.
Under this tab, they will then select “Pickleball courts” or “Tennis courts” and the specific location, court number and desired time slot (maximum of 2 hours per court). Once they have agreed to the waiver and rules of conduct, they can proceed to check out, according to the city.
Right now, the courts available for pickleball and tennis include Mathews Park at 295 West Avenue, Nathan Hale Middle School at 176 Strawberry Hill Avenue and Woodward Park at 155 Woodward Avenue.
Mathews Park has three dedicated tennis courts, two of which have pickleball lines. Nathan Hale Middle School has two dedicated tennis courts, of which both have pickleball lines. Woodward Park has four dedicated pickleball courts and four courts that have both tennis and pickleball lines.
Court hours align with the operating hours of each court facility, which can be reviewed by visiting www.norwalkct.gov/3458/Pickleball.
Later this spring, the city will be announcing the opening of several brand-new outdoor courts, expanding and adding pickleball and tennis opportunities at Ludlow Park, Rowayton Elementary School and the Roosevelt Center (at the Norwalk Senior Center).
Ludlow Park will soon have four dedicated pickleball courts. Rowayton Elementary School will soon have four dedicated pickleball courts and one dedicated tennis court. The one dedicated tennis court will have lines for four additional pickleball courts. Roosevelt Center will soon have one tennis court lined with four pickleball courts and one dedicated pickleball court.
The city will also be announcing new pickleball programming, including the opportunity to sign up for pickleball clinics with talented instructors at various park locations. Participants will be able to view all the new pickleball programming on their ActiveNet account, city officials said.
The department has also developed player conduct and rules that are posted at each court to ensure safe, accessible, and responsible play for all residents and visitors, according to city officials. Residents can review them at www.norwalkct.gov/3458/Pickleball.
All participants are expected to follow conduct and court rules, according to the city. Users are also expected to vacate the court when their reservation time has expired or when someone with a reservation comes to the court. Participants are permitted to stay if there are no scheduled reservations.
