The Norwalk schools superintendent called on ABC to stop the insults about Norwalk. The show takes place in Westport.

NORWALK, CT — Members of the Norwalk community are calling on ABC to stop the insults against the city in its show "American Housewife."
The show is about a family that moves to Westport. The show makes occasional jokes at the expense of Norwalk, but a recent episode featured the main character's daughter dressing up as a "Norwalk prom girl," who was pregnant.
School Superintendent Steven Adamowski wrote a letter to ABC asking the network to stop the derogatory jokes about the city and its residents.

He said the show is another example of the divisive national discourse and that parents are disappointed that the network is insulting children in the name of comedy.
"We are nationally recognized for our marching bands and music programs. After-school clubs and sports teams offer something for every interest. As a shoreline community, swim lessons and competitive meets make our pools very popular," Adamowski said. "Our graduation rates are above the state average; we are closing the achievement gap; and our students earn admission to Ivy League colleges, military academies, community and technical schools, and public and private universities across the country. Norwalk is a wonderful place to raise a family."
