Norwalk Announces First-Ever River Street Sunset Bazaar Summer Event Series

The new free summer event series will bring local vendors, live music, food and more to the Wall Street area of Norwalk.

NORWALK, CT — The city announced Friday the launch of the first-ever River Street Sunset Bazaar in Norwalk's historic Wall Street district.

According to a news release provided by the city, the free summer event series will transform River Street into a vibrant evening market filled with local vendors, food and drinks, live entertainment, lawn games and community connection.

The free event is open to all and will take place June 13, July 11 and Aug. 8 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on River Street in Norwalk.

Designed as a relaxed, walkable evening experience, the Sunset Bazaar invites residents, families and visitors to gather downtown, explore Norwalk's small business community, enjoy local food and beverages, listen to live music and take in the energy of one of the city's most historic neighborhoods, according to the city.

More than 30 vendors are expected to participate, offering a curated mix of shopping, artisan goods, food, specialty products and local finds, according to the city.

"The first-ever River Street Sunset Bazaar is exactly the kind of event that reflects the best of Norwalk — our creativity, our diversity, our neighborhoods and our strong sense of community," Mayor Barbara Smyth said in a news release. "This new summer series will bring people together in a welcoming, family-friendly environment while shining a spotlight on the local businesses and entrepreneurs who help make our city so vibrant. We are excited to invite residents and visitors to spend a summer evening on River Street and experience all that Norwalk has to offer."

According to the city, the Sunset Bazaar also supports the city's ongoing efforts to activate public spaces, strengthen neighborhood connections and encourage residents and visitors to explore Norwalk's dining, shopping, arts and entertainment offerings.

Set against the backdrop of the historic Wall Street district, the new event creates opportunities for people of all ages to connect with one another and with the local businesses that contribute to Norwalk's economic vitality, according to the city.

"Launching the first-ever Sunset Bazaar gives us a wonderful new way to showcase Norwalk's small business community and bring people together in the heart of the city," Director of Business Development and Tourism Sabrina Godeski said in a news release. "From local makers and specialty vendors to food, music and family-friendly activities, this event is about creating an inviting experience that encourages people to linger, discover something new and feel connected to Norwalk."

Attendees can expect a lively evening atmosphere with local vendors, food and beverage options, live music, lawn games and the warm, golden-hour setting that inspired the event's name, according to the city.

Nearby parking is available at Yankee Doodle Garage, located at 10 Burnell Boulevard, the release noted.
