NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Art Space will host an exhibit of art quilts and original book illustrations by Lizzy Rockwell and her friends and family, beginning Feb. 3 and running through March 10.
According to a news release, the opening reception will be held Feb. 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and include performances by DJ Hauswife and Quiltet. The public is welcome to attend, but pre-registration for one of three timed entry slots (6pm, 7pm and 8pm) is required through the art space's website.
Rockwell, who studied at Connecticut College and the School of Visual Arts, is a quilter, illustrator, author and game designer. According to the art space, Rockwell's visual narratives, created primarily for children, spark conversations about emotions and personal wellness.

Most of what Rockwell learned about books she learned from her parents, who made books in their home studio. Illustrations by her mother, Anne Rockwell, and abstract woodcuts by her father, Harlow Rockwell, are included in this show.
Rockwell's works will be displayed alongside works by members of Peace by Piece, an ongoing intergenerational after-school art program designed by Rockwell. The diverse group of Norwalk residents, currently aged 8-93, have made art quilts which hang in numerous institutions and libraries in Connecticut.
