Attorney Accused Of Stealing Over $1 Million From Clients: Norwalk PD

NORWALK, CT — A real estate attorney accused of stealing over $1 million from his clients was arrested Wednesday, according to Norwalk police.

Carl Ferraro, 57, of Darien, was charged with eight counts of first-degree larceny. He was held on a $4,325,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Sofia Gulino said the department received numerous complaints earlier this year that Ferraro had withheld money from clients during real estate closings.

During a lengthy investigation that involved over half a dozen victims, police determined Ferraro would facilitate home closings on behalf of the selling parties, then keep the money given to him that was intended for the sellers.

According to Gulino, Ferraro is alleged to have stolen over $1 million from his clients.

According to The Norwalk Hour, Ferraro's license to practice law was suspended in March after a state judge decided the attorney "poses a threat of irreparable harm to current and prospective clients." As of mid-June, Ferraro has eight grievance complaints, court records indicate.
