Norwalk Board of Ed: Hey Buddy, Can You Spare $2.3 Million?
Officials are eyeing the city's "rainy day fund" for the money.

NORWALK, CT - The Board of Education is seeking an allocation of $2.3 million from the city's savings account to help prop up its proposed $177 million school operating budget request.
Popularly referred to as the "rainy day fund," the account currently stands at just over $42 million, according to officials, the highest it has been in Norwalk's history. Because of that amount, the city's Chief Financial Officer Thomas Hamilton is recommending the $2.3 million come from the fund, reports The Hour.
If eventually approved, the request would got toward establishing a Transitional Special Education Development Fund, according to officials.
