Norwalk Bubble Tea Shop Plans May Reopening In Larger New Space
When Bubbly's Bubble Tea reopens in a new space in Norwalk, it will offer an expanded menu, outdoor seating and more, according to an owner.
NORWALK, CT — When Bubbly's Bubble Tea reopens this spring, nearly two years after shutting down due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, it will be in a bigger space with an expanded menu, outdoor seating and more, according to one of the store's owners.
In an email Monday, Sabbir Hossain said the Bubbly's team has decided to reopen the bubble tea shop as the city regains a sense of normalcy in the time since the store originally shut down in June 2020.
"We are deciding to reopen since normalcy is coming back after the peak of the pandemic," Hossain said in an email. "We closed down in the first place due to the COVID-19 lockdowns crushing our sales."

The store, which previously operated in South Norwalk on Washington Street, will soon reopen in a larger space at 64 Wall Street and offer some exciting new features.
According to Hossain, the new Bubbly's store will have more seating inside and an expanded menu, as well as outdoor seating and a "social media-worthy aesthetic," including a grass wall where customers can take pictures with their drinks.

The city's Wall Street area also offers more parking for customers, something that proved to be a challenge when Bubbly's operated in South Norwalk, according to Hossain.
A March 10 post on the store's Facebook page indicated the Bubbly's team had "learned from our mistakes" in regards to parking and were excited to move to an area that features "ample street parking" and "a giant parking garage" nearby.
"We are also pursuing a liquor permit so we can be the very first dedicated bubble tea shop in Connecticut to let our 21 and older customers have the option to spike their bubble teas," Hossain said. "We're hoping the city and state will work with us on this."
According to Hossain, the team is working hard to hopefully have the store open by the first week of May, with a target opening date set for May 7.

Bubbly's first opened in Norwalk in 2018 but later closed in June 2020, with the store's team citing financial damages caused by the coronavirus crisis as its reason for shutting down.
"We're sad to announce that we have made the decision to close down Bubbly's," a June 3, 2020, post reads. "Due to the dramatic slow down in sales during the COVID-19 lockdown, we have incurred tremendous amount of loss due to the cost of operating the store. We thank everyone that tried to help by donating to us, but unfortunately Bubbly's was hurt tremendously financially due to COVID-19."
