NORWALK, CT — An aid at a Norwalk care center was arrested Wednesday on charges connected to an elderly abuse investigation, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said the department's Special Victims Unit received a report in November 2023 of elderly abuse at Fairfield Family Care Center in Norwalk.

According to Podgorski, detectives determined an elderly man had been left unattended and was injured after falling out of his bed at night.

After collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, detectives determined Lydia Lungile, 40, of Newark, N.J., was the aid in charge of the elderly man's care at the time and ignored him, Podgorski said.

As a result of the investigation, police obtained a warrant for Lungile's arrest. Special Victims Unit detectives then worked with a Norwalk police officer assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service's Violent Fugitive Task Force to locate her, Podgorski said.
