Local community organizations such as SONO Cares have already pledged their support with a donation of 200 backpacks. Last year's drive netted over 600 backpacks due to the generosity of Word Alive Church members, local businesses, Norwalk residents and local police.
The deadline to contribute is Aug. 7. Those who wish to do so can either drop off donations of backpacks, pencils, pens, crayons, rulers, notebooks, pocket folders, erasers and glue sticks at Word Alive Church on West Avenue or make a financial contribution online.
