Norwalk City Council To Consider Various Purchases During Upcoming Meeting: Agenda

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk City Council is scheduled to consider a number of proposed purchases and agreements during its regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday night.

According to an agenda available on the city's website, the meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers and may be accessed by phone, Zoom or a recording on the city's YouTube channel.

Among the items listed on the agenda, the council is scheduled to consider a proposal to authorize Mayor Barbara Smyth to execute an agreement with B&W Paving and Landscaping, LLC for a "paving at various locations" project for a sum not to exceed $1,047,840.

A related item would authorize the chief of operations and public works to execute orders on the contract for a sum not to exceed $104,784, according to the agenda.

The council is also scheduled to consider a sole source purchase order to Gabrielli Truck Sales of Connecticut LL for a 2027 Mack Granite plow truck, according to the agenda.

Other public works items listed on the agenda include a proposal for a three-year agreement with Almstead Tree and Shrub Care Co., LLC for the supply and planting of trees and shrubs at various locations, as well as a separate three-year agreement with Oman's Garden Center for the same project.

Several proposed Norwalk Police Department purchase orders are also listed on the agenda, including one to Meridian Rapid Defense Group for an Archer Trailer kit, one to 111 Elite Firearms for 25 Geissele Mod 1 rifles with accessories, one to Federal Eastern International for 25 police ballistic vests and one to Industrial Strength Industries for Scuba communications equipment.

The agenda also includes a proposed purchase order for a new SCBA cylinder fill station, as well as an agreement with PolicyBUILDERS, Corp. for fire department procedures and policy software.

Under "recreation, parks and cultural affairs," council members are scheduled to consider an agreement with BioHabitats, Inc. for engineering design services for the Design Planning to Improve Resiliency, Habitat and Public Access at Veteran's Park Project, according to the agenda.

Other parks-related items listed on the agenda include a request to increase an existing purchase order with Stantec Consulting for Broadriver Field design services, as well as an amendment to an October 2021 agreement between the city and Race Coastal Engineering.

The council is also scheduled to consider a request to name the Police Headquarters Plaza at 1 Monroe Street in honor of retired Police Chief and former Mayor Harry Rilling, according to the agenda.

Appointments and reappointments are also listed on the agenda.

The mayor's section includes reappointments of Joy DeJaeger to the Commission on Gender Equity and David Pramer to the Pension Board of Trustees, while the council president's section lists appointments of Denise C. Brown and Gabriella Wolson to the Board of Ethics, according to the agenda.
