Norwalk City Councilman Arrested

Norwalk, CT-- Norwalk Councilman Travis Simms was arrested at a house party on Flax Hill Road Sunday.

Simms, 44, and Franklin Eaton, 24, were both charged with third-degree assault, according to the Norwalk Hour.

Police responded to a party around 3:30 a.m.

Simms was yelling at Eaton and there was a lot of chaos, police said. Simms’ wife and daughter allegedly refused to move as an officer tried to break-up the situation. Eaton told police that Simms’ wife held him down while Simms punched him in the mouth, police said.

Simms allegedly threatened to cut the police department’s budget after signing a misdemeanor summons document. He didn’t respond to the Hour’s request for comment.

Police plan to release body camera footage of the incident within the next few days.
