Norwalk Collecting Leftover Pumpkins For Composting

Not sure what to do with your leftover Halloween pumpkins? Norwalk's food scrap drop-off sites are collecting them for composting.

NORWALK, CT — Now that Halloween has come to an end and residents' leftover pumpkins will soon begin to rot, food scrap drop-off sites in Norwalk are accepting pumpkins for composting.

According to the city's Facebook page, residents are encouraged to bring their leftover pumpkins to one of the following locations:

  • The Norwalk Transfer Station at 61 Crescent Street.
  • Cranbury Park at 300 Grumman Avenue (please enter the park through the main entrance and the bins are located to the right of the mansion).
  • The Rowayton Community Center at 33 Highland Avenue (located behind the library and across from the equipment garage).

Candles, plastic decorations and lights must be removed from pumpkins before dropping them off. Pumpkins with paint or glitter cannot be accepted for composting.
