Norwalk Coronavirus Update: 10 Have Died At 2 Local Nursing Homes

Gov. Ned Lamont released data night on the state's coronavirus-related deaths.

NORWALK, CT — Of the state's 375 coronavirus-related deaths in nursing homes as of Thursday, 10 have occurred at two facilities in Norwalk, Autumn Lake Healthcare at Norwalk and Cassena Care at Norwalk, according to data released by Gov. Ned Lamont.

Eight of the 10 deaths were at Autumn Lake, and the other two were at Cassena Care, Lamont said.

The figure represents nearly a quarter of the 46 deaths in Norwalk as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Statewide, nursing home deaths represent more than a third of Connecticut's 971 COVID-19 deaths.

Norwalk officials are aware of the situation at both facilities, and the city has provided some personal protective equipment to them, Mayor Harry Rilling told the Norwalk Hour.

As of Thursday, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Connecticut nursing homes was 1,713. Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases was 15,884. (Don't miss local and statewide news about coronavirus developments and precautions. Sign up for Patch alerts and daily newsletters.)

In Fairfield County, the total death toll stood at 406 as of Thursday, and there were 6,816 confirmed coronavirus cases in the county as of Thursday.
