Norwalk Court Attempted Firebombing Case: Jury Makes Decision

Stamford resident Joseph Stephenson​ was charged with attempted arson, burglary and tampering with evidence in the 2013 incident.

NORWALK, CT — Stamford resident Joseph Stephenson, 49, was convicted by a jury Friday in connection with the attempted firebombing of Norwalk Superior Court in 2013, reports the Stamford Advocate.

The jury convicted Stephenson on charges of attempted arson, burglary and attempted tampering with evidence for which he now faces a possible maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced in January.

Stephenson reportedly was trying to avoid a court appearance on a larceny charge, writes the Advocate's John Nickerson.
