Norwalk Democratic Primary Election 2023: Close Race To Be Recounted

NORWALK, CT — A close Democratic primary race in Norwalk's Common Council District B is expected to be recounted as unofficial results roll in Tuesday night, according to city voting officials.

Democratic Registrar Stuart Wells III said in an email unofficial results released around 9 p.m. show challenger Dajuan Wiggins held a narrow lead over incumbent Diana Revolus, with Wiggins receiving 94 votes and Revolus receiving 85.

Incumbent Darlene Young received the most votes at 127, according to unofficial results.

According to Wells, Revolus being less than 20 votes behind means she qualifies for an automatic recount, which she can decline if she chooses. If not, the time and place for a recount will be determined Wednesday.

A recount would involve all three candidates, according to Wells.

A total of 182 registered Democrats cast ballots in Tuesday's primary election, according to Wells. The winners of Tuesday's primary will be the Democratic candidates on the ballot in the municipal election scheduled for Nov. 7.

Both Revolus and Young received endorsements from the Democratic Town Committee back in July, according to The Norwalk Hour.
