NORWALK DOCTOR IS FIRST AND ONLY IN THE STATE TO PERFORM IN-OFFICE SINUS PROCEDURE WITH CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY

The Fiagon Navigation System Increases Safety and Reduces Procedure Time

Norwalk, Conn (June 20, 2016) – Dr. Robert Weiss, Medical Director of Norwalk based CT ENT Sinus and Allergy is the only physician in Connecticut to use the state-of-the-art Fiagon Navigation System by Entellus for in-office Balloon Sinus Dilation (BSD) procedures.

The in-office BSD procedure reduces recurring sinus infections, removing the need for endless dosages of antibiotics. Chronic sinusitis sufferers will also see a decrease in sinus related headaches, and significantly improved nasal congestion. The process takes approximately 30 minutes with patients able to resume normal activity by the next day.

Similar to a GPS system, the Fiagon Navigation System allows the doctor to load the patient's CAT scan into a small computer and see real time images while operating. In the past, the system could only be used in hospitals due to its large size. Now, the instrument can be used within the sinus cavities on patients while in the office.

“The patient is comfortable and fully awake during the BSD procedure with only local anesthesia being used. People who have taken antibiotics for years to combat chronic sinusitis leave the office breathing better than they ever have,” says Dr. Weiss. “By pairing the BSD procedure with the Fiagon technology we can shorten the duration of the process and work with an added safety measure in place.”
