Video: Norwalk Edges Ridgefield in Junior American Legion Action
Norwalk rallies for a 4-3, eight-inning win after tying the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh
Taking advantage of nine walks, the Norwalk junior American Legion baseball team rallied for a 4-3, eight-inning win over Ridgefield on Monday afternoon.
Through three innings, Norwalk was held scoreless despite receiving six walks, but it erased a 3-1 deficit with two unearned runs in the seventh before pushing across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Mike Hughes had four hits for Norwalk (7-5), which moved into a tie with idle Trumbull (7-5) for second place in Zone Four behind first place Stamford (10-2).
Ridgefield (7-5) dropped into fourth place, one-half game behind Norwalk and Trumbull.
Starter Chris McClelland had a two-run single in the third for Ridgefield, then doubled and scored in the sixth to give his team a 3-1 lead.
McClelland walked seven, but allowed only one run and four hits over five innings.
